Half Way Through Season Montepaschi On Top

Montepaschi Siena played their 17th regular season Series A game on Sunday night against Fabi Shoes Montegranaro marking the halfway point in the season, walking away with a 96-84 win.  Dave played 32 minutes and again top scored for Montepaschi with 24 points, grabbing one offensive and three defensive rebounds and one assist.  Shaun Stonerook grabbed the most boards for Montepaschi with seven defensive rebounds.  Montepaschi Siena will now have a three day break before they host the first of their Top 16 games at PalaEstra on Wednesday January 18 against Spanish team Gescrap Bilbao.

 
Bologna Beats Montepaschi

Montepaschi Siena travelled to Bologna  to play Canadian Solar Virtus Bologna on Wednesday January 1.  Montepaschi held the lead at half time but could not overcome a nine point deficit at three quarter time, going down to Bologna 71-75.  Dave played 31 minutes and top scored for Montepaschi with 23 points while grabbing two offensive and one defensive rebound.  Igor Rakocevic was second highest scorer for Montepaschi with 19 points while David Moss and Nikolaos Zisis both grabbed five rebounds each.  Montepaschi host Fabi Shoes Montegranaro in their next Series A game at PalaEstra on Sunday January 15.

 
Montepaschi Win and Dave Double-Doubles

Montepaschi Siena travelled to Sassari to play in their 15th Series A League Championship game of the season.  Montepaschi held the lead at every change to win 91-75 against Banco di Sardegna Sassari.  Dave played 33 minutes,making it a double-double scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds (three offensive and eight defensive).  Dave top scored for Montepaschi with his 23 points with Shaun Stonerook one point behind with 22 points.  Dave and Stonerook shared equal top spot with both rebounding 11 rebounds each.  Montepaschi Siena now sit one game (2 points) clear of the Series A LegaBasket table with EA& Emporio Armani Milano second, Bennet Cantu in third spot and Canadian Solar Virtus Bologna rounding out the top four.  Montepaschi travel to Bologna to play Canadian Solar Virtus Bologna on Wednesday January 11, before heading back to Siena to host Fabi Shoes Montegranaro on Sunday January 15.

 
Dates Set For First Four Top 16 Games

The dates have been set for the first four rounds of the Euroleague Top 16.  Montepaschi Siena drew Group F with Gescrap Bilbao, Real Madrid and Unicaja.  Montepaschi will host Gescrap Bilbao at PalaEstra on Wednesday January 18 in round one.  Montepaschi then has three games on the road in Spain facing Real Madrid on Wednesday January 25, Unicaja on Thursday February 2 and Gescrap Bilbao on Wednesday February 22.

 
First Game of the New Year

Montepaschi Siena hosted their first game of 2012 at PalaEstra on Tuesday January 3 against Scavolini-Siviglia Pesaro.  In a tough game, the home team could not walk away with the win after being pipped at the post 75-78.  Dave played 26 minutes scoring 16 points, grabbing two offensive and three defensive rebounds and one assist.  Dave and Igor Rakocevic equal top scored for Montepaschi with 16 points each while Shaun Stonerook grabbed the highest amount of rebounds with seven rebounds for the game.  Montepaschi Siena will now travel to Sassari to play Banco di Sardegna Sassari on Sunday January 8.
